Wild Hare people worked with the first Data General Nova computers in the late 1960s in a variety of advanced biomedical research and scientific applications. The company was officially registered in 1973 and has subsequently performed specialized commercial and military consulting, operating system design, hardware products and productivity enhancers focused on the Data General marketplace. We have worked with and created products for almost every operating system released by Data General and even introduced a line of our own workstations - called "Hare Brains" - in the early 1980s. Regardless of the market, product or service, we create guaranteed solutions that will meet current and future client needs.
A Quick Background
Our main software product of the 1970s, TSS, transformed Data General's RDOS system into a true multi-user operating system. Users benefited by continuing to use standard DG software, their current applications but with multi-user access at a lower cost that migrating to AOS.
In 1983 we introduced the Choice! COBOL runtime system which was fully compatible with the Data General Interactive COBOL system. Initially released for UNIX, it was also introduced for DOS and other operating systems of the '80s. This represented the first opportunity for DG ICOBOL users to painlessly benefit from the price/performance of "open systems".
In 1992 Wild Hare pioneered the VS COBOL/INFOS migration market, the first solution for VS COBOL/INFOS users to move to open systems without costly re-engineering and retraining.
Today Wild Hare's commercial products bring data base access to ICOBOL users worldwide, insuring a continued ability for customers to benefit from legacy investments while looking toward the future. And our emulation products finally give the most demanding military and commercial application users the capability to move to open systems - which they previously could not do. Plus we contribute to various open source projects to help give and receive the benefits of this exciting development process.
All of this experience - technical and non-technical alike - provides a solid basis for creating future guaranteed client solutions that combine the benefits of advanced technologies with proven applications.
